Garmin Community MCP vs garminmcp.com

garminmcp.com is a read-only hosted connector with around ten tools, a 30-day trial and Claude-first documentation. Garmin Community MCP has 50+ read endpoints, write tools that put workouts on your watch, a 48-hour trial, and documented ChatGPT, Claude and developer-client setups. Neither is affiliated with Garmin.

Official API vs Garmin Connect app interface

Two products in the table (AthleteData, Fitness AI Connector) use Garmin's official Health API, granted before Garmin paused new Developer Program applications in 2026. The official API is OAuth-based and well supported, but exposes a narrower data set (no training readiness, race predictions, workouts or calendar) and can't write workouts. Everyone else, including Garmin Community MCP and every open-source project, uses the same interface the Garmin Connect mobile app uses, which exposes everything the app can show and can create workouts. The trade-off is that Garmin can change it without notice. We publish incidents on our status page and keep a raw-API fallback tool so coverage never goes to zero.
