My HRV has felt off for a week. What's going on, and should I do the threshold session today?
→ get_garmin_data(endpoint: "hrv", 14 days) · daily_overview(today) · activities(14 days)
Your HRV has sat 8–12 ms under baseline for 6 nights, starting the day after Sunday's 28 km run. Sleep averaged 6h 40m over the same stretch, and resting HR is up 4 bpm. That's accumulated fatigue, not illness. Skip threshold today, do 40 min easy, and move the session to Thursday if HRV is back above 58.
Do that. Put the threshold session on Thursday: 15 min warm up, 3 × 10 min at 4:15–4:25/km with 3 min jog, cool down.
→ create_workout(sport: "running", steps: [...], schedule_date: "2026-10-08")
Done. "Thu: 3 × 10 threshold" is on your Garmin calendar for Thursday and will be on your watch at the next sync. I'll check your HRV again Thursday morning before you run it.

Why people connect their Garmin to an AI

Garmin collects the data. Your AI can finally use it.

Garmin Connect shows you charts. Garmin Connect+ sends you insights. Neither lets you ask a question in your own words, cross-reference a bad week of sleep with last week's training, or act on the answer. Garmin Community MCP fixes that: the model calls your Garmin data as tools, on demand, mid-conversation, and can write back.

?

Ask anything

"Why was my HRV low this week?" "Compare my last three long runs." "Am I on track for a sub-3:30 marathon?" The AI pulls exactly the data it needs and answers from your numbers, not generic advice.

⇄

Act on it writes

Build structured workouts from plain English, schedule them, log weight, hydration and blood pressure, rename activities, link your shoes. The workout lands on your watch at the next sync.

Any AI, one URL

One connector URL works in ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and any MCP client. Switch assistants without reconnecting your Garmin.

Setup

Three steps, about five minutes

  1. Connect your Garmin

Sign in to Garmin Connect on our page (MFA supported). We never see or store your password, only an encrypted token you can revoke.

  2. Copy your connector URL

You get one private URL. The dashboard shows the exact form each client needs: header token for ChatGPT and Claude Code, URL token for Claude's custom connectors.

  3. Paste it into your AI

ChatGPT: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Developer mode. Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Ask "how did I sleep last night?" to test it.

What the AI can see

50+ Garmin Connect data sources, plus a raw API fallback

Most Garmin connectors expose 10 to 30 tools. Garmin Community MCP catalogues 50 endpoints and includes garmin_api_get for anything else, so the model stops saying "I don't have access to that".

FAQ

Questions people ask before connecting

What is Garmin Community MCP?

Garmin Community MCP is a hosted Garmin Connect MCP server. You connect your Garmin account once, paste one URL into ChatGPT, Claude or any MCP client, and the AI can read your sleep, HRV, training and activity data and write structured workouts to your watch. What is an MCP server?

Does it work with ChatGPT and Claude?

Yes. ChatGPT supports custom connectors in developer mode on paid plans. Claude supports custom connectors on every plan, including free (one connector). Claude Code, Cursor, Perplexity and any client that speaks remote MCP over Streamable HTTP also work. Guides: ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code & Cursor.

How much does Garmin Community MCP cost?

Read is $4.99/month or $39/year. Athlete, which adds write tools such as sending workouts to your watch, is $8.99/month or $69/year. Coach, for up to five Garmin accounts, is $19.99/month or $159/year. Every plan starts with a 48-hour free trial; add a card to start and you pay nothing if you cancel before it ends.

Is it safe to connect my Garmin account?

You sign in to Garmin on our page, with MFA if you use it. We never store your password. We store an encrypted Garmin token you can revoke any time, and we don't keep your health data at rest. Write and delete tools are off on the Read plan and can be toggled on higher plans. Security details.

Why only 48 hours?

Because setup takes five minutes and you'll see a full night of sleep and HRV data arrive through your AI within the window. If you connected but didn't get to try it properly, we extend your trial automatically.

Is Garmin Community MCP affiliated with Garmin?

No. Garmin Community MCP is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Garmin Ltd., OpenAI or Anthropic. It talks to Garmin Connect using the same interface the Garmin Connect mobile app uses.
